1940's Fenton Topaz Opalescent Hobnail Oil Cruet

$100.00

Hard to find item. Topaz Opalescent hobnail was introduced in 1941 and
production ended in 1944 due to mineral shortages required to make this
color during WWII. Fenton reintroduced the color in 1959 but this item
was not part of the line then. In the 1980's Fenton did make a limited
run of 750 oil cruets for Levay. Those would be marked on the bottom
with the Fenton logo. This is an unmarked piece dating it to the
1941-1944 production. Fenton sold this item individually and as part of
the condiment set from 1942 to 1944. The condiment set included a 10
1/2" fan tray, footed salt and pepper shakers, mustard dish, and the oil
cruet. The value if you have the whole set is increased significantly.
It is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks. There is a cut
shut mark on the bottom that is present on all Fenton's oil cruets. It
is part of the manufacturing process.
